Pilates on the Bay was born from a simple vision: to create a space where wellness meets community, where every person feels welcome and supported on their movement journey.

In our bright, airy studio in the heart of Cleveland, we've cultivated more than just a place to exercise. We've built a community of like-minded individuals who support each other, celebrate progress, and understand that true wellness extends beyond the studio walls.

As the owner of Pilates on the Bay, Melissa is passionate about creating a space where everyone can build strength for life. With 6 years of experience across Mat and Reformer Pilates, as well as qualifications in Barre and Yin Reformer, she has a special interest in supporting women's health through all its phases, from pre and post-natal to pre and post-menopause.

Melissa is a strong believer that strength and flexibility are essential as we age, and this philosophy is at the heart of her teaching. Specialising in Pilates for strength, she designs classes that are both challenging and empowering, helping you build a capable, resilient body that will support you for years to come.

Barbara Bachelder

Barbara Bachelder

Instructor

Barbara's love for movement began as a dancer, and since 2001, she has turned that passion into a career helping others feel strong and confident. As an internationally certified STOTT Pilates Instructor and Trainer, her expertise is backed by over 65 courses and workshops, including specialisations in Pre/Post-Natal care and injury rehabilitation. With over a decade of experience teaching in Brisbane and Sydney after starting her career in Canada, Barbara brings a wealth of knowledge to every class she leads.

She is passionate about helping her students reach their full potential in classes that are always fun, challenging, and inspiring. Barbara believes that movement has a transformational influence over every area of one's life and is dedicated to creating a supportive environment where you can discover what your body is truly capable of.

A devoted mum with a deep passion for true health and wellness, Jacki brings strength, challenge, and the right amount of spice to every class she teaches. Certified in Reformer Pilates, she believes movement is about more than just fitness - it’s about creating space to feel present, connected, and empowered in your own body.

Jacki’s mission is simple: to help you feel strong in your body and grounded in your mind, both on and off the reformer. Her classes are designed to support and challenge you, no matter your experience level, and she meets every client with care, intention, and genuine encouragement.

Alyssa McGuire

With a deep love for both mat and reformer Pilates, Alyssa has spent seven years practicing and perfecting the blend of mindful movement with strength and control. She has a unique appreciation for how Pilates connects the mind and body, and she brings this focus into every class she teaches. Recently graduating with a degree in psychology, Alyssa has a special interest in the mental benefits of movement.

In her classes, you can expect full-body flows that move seamlessly from one exercise to the next, with an emphasis on form and control. Alyssa loves helping people challenge themselves in a way that feels empowering, not punishing, leaving you feeling strong, connected, and centered.
